Venetian masks in the Baroque style were used to hide identities from the public. Their use was eventually banned throughout Italy. The day the ban was lifted became known as the Carnival of Venice (Carnevale di Venezia).

This black and gold mask is made from hard plastic and is about 3.5" tall and 6.5" wide. It includes beautiful details of music notes and pictures painted right on it! It would be great to wear in any masquerade ball or as an additional piece to a lovely costume.
